Apprentice Mechanical Maintenance Fitter
To receive training in all facets of the mechanical fitting discipline as required by the company. The areas of work expected to be covered during training are installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, testing and de-commissioning of industrial plant and equipment and systems; similarly for machine tools; the manufacture, assembly and repair of intricate tooling fixtures, moulds and mechanical handling devices.

Key accountabilities
* Follow and benefit from a set development path to satisfy and complete the appropriate apprenticeship programme supported by the delivery of underpinning knowledge at a Technical College or elsewhere * To undertake trade training in placements around the sites at AWE (A) and AWE (B)Responsibilities
* Operate in accordance with the Company?s Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (SQESH) standards * Applying due care and attention to ensure the safety of yourself and others in the workshops when using equipment/machinery * High degree of commitment to learning and development * Maximising on the full range of development opportunities that are included in the programmeQualifications
* Entry is assessed via ability testing and therefore no minimal education standard is specified, however, a good aptitude for maths is requiredKnowledge
* No specific experience necessary although the ability to demonstrate an application of mechanical equipment and safe working practices would be an advantage (i.e. experience gained in a school workshop)Experience
* No practical experience is necessary however experience in working as part of a team in the workplace / school or college would be beneficial * Evidence of experience in taking personal accountability for learning and development will be advantageousSkills
